What if.....
What if trees had hearts?
What if fish swam in the soil below ?
What if black birds were only here to protect them?

What happens when the hearts are not nourished and go black?
What happens when the fish go back to the water?
What happens when the black birds fly away, and there is no use for them anymore?

These are all thoughts and poems written while creating my current series of work.  I tend to create from emotions and let my art tell my stories.  My medium is mostly ceramic, which is where my roots extend from.  I have been on a journey the past eight years evolving from the world of a third generation production potter to one of fine art ceramics and multi media sculpture.  All of my pieces are made from wheel thrown and slab formed stoneware with accents of hand sculpted paper clay.  Many pieces have hand carved motifs and drawings that are etched into the surface while the clay is "leather hard". Glazes, oxides, and stains are sprayed and painted on the pieces, and layers of raw hard wood ash are applied prior to firing. Sculptures are assembled and accented with copper and stainless wire, rope, bolts, felt, found objects, steel, resin, and acrylic.  Bases are made of recycled marble, wood, cement, and granite.
